What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin condition that causes blood vessels on the face to enlarge, making the upper cheeks and nose become red or flushed. In some cases, dilated capillaries and small hard spots appear too.

Why do I have Rosacea?

Most common in women over the age of 30, the cause of Rosacea is currently unknown. Some evidence suggests it may be hereditary or triggered by environmental factors, but it isn’t contagious. Several friends of Sarah, our founder, developed it during their first pregnancy.

“It is the best cream I have ever used. My skin feels normal, hydrated and fresh. I have very sensitive skin and suffer from Rosacea. Most products cause swelling, redness, stinging etc but this cream calmed and soothed everything.”

What should I avoid?

What should I avoid?

Caffeine, spicy food, alcohol and sunlight, along with sharp changes in temperature, are the most common triggers for Rosacea.

Based on skincare reactions from patients surveyed by the National Rosacea Society, we recommend avoiding products containing alcohol, witch hazel, fragrance, menthol, peppermint and eucalyptus

Many Rosacea creams contain the irritant Benzoyl Peroxide, which we recommend avoiding as it may cause symptoms to worsen.

Flare ups can often occur due to your home or work environment too. Where possible, avoid hot, dry central heating or direct air conditioning.

Your Rosacea Skincare Routine

When dealing with irritated or unpredictable skin, we recommend returning to a basic three-step Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise routine.

Once your skin feels settled, gradually add in facial oils and serums to help strengthen the skin’s barrier.

Wearing sunscreen daily is also a must for Rosacea-prone skin. Apply your SPF after your morning skin care routine and before makeup.

A spritz of tonic is also an effective way to cool down hot, prickly skin.
